Fall in Salida

Riding around here is good anytime of the year but man, I love the fall.

Sunny, blue skies and air that’s cool and crisp, just enough where you need arm and knee warmers.  The high mountains are trying on their first winter coats of the year, providing a striking backdrop for the entire valley.  And the tourists are gone so the trails feel almost empty.  Last year an early September snow knocked down all the fall foliage around town and it felt like we went from summer immediately to winter. This year the cottonwoods and aspens have had time for a proper display.  I took the mountain bike out for a spin around the Arkansas Hills yesterday and it did not disappoint.

And you know what this means, right? Ski season is just around the proverbial corner!
