Ah, fall in Colorado. Seeing the days slowly getting shorter and feeling the nights gradually getting cooler. Saying goodbye to the hiking and biking of summer and anticipating the skiing of winter. Time to downshift, kick back, and take it slow while nature works on changing its pallet from green and gold to green and white.
This past week we ventured up to Buena Vista with some local friends to check out the BV Stage & Rail route along the Arkansas River. It was a scenic spin on paved and dirt roads ending with lunch in downtown BV. Time to take in the sights, sounds, and smells of the season. No rush. You know, casual.
A stop to check out an old railroad bridge along the way.
Elephant Rock, a popular climbing spot.
Tunnels!
And more giant rocks.
Back in town, our friends took us to the Buena Viking, a food truck in the alley just off main street. The Viking serves tasty burgers and beers and has a bike-friendly patio for al fresco noshing and general pontificating.
Good friends, good food, good times! And now we’re officially ready for ski season.
